9.3. Disinfection Systems By Ultraviolet Device

Ultraviolet systems (UV) are systems used for disinfection purposes. Ultraviolet method is a fast and effective method that enables the killing of microorganisms in the water without using heat or chemicals. In UV Devices, rays of certain wavelengths are used in order to disrupt the DNA structure of bacteria, viruses, fungi, mold spores and other microorganisms in the water. The water to be disinfected with ultraviolet should be filtered, hardened and heavy metals such as iron and manganese should be removed. Ultraviolet lamps should be replaced with new ones after an average of 9000 hours of service life. This period may vary according to the manufacturers.
